Ironman 70.3 Syracuse will utilize the wonderful facilities at Jamesville Reservoir County Beach Park for the 1.2 mile swim course as well as the transition areas and athlete parking. Located just 8 miles southeast of downtown Syracuse, the facilities at Jamesville Beach Park are second to none. Athletes will enjoy the beautiful sandy beach front being used for both swim start and swim exit as well as the large grass field being utilized for the transition area at the Ironman 70.3 Syracuse. Athlete on site parking will be set up for race weekend from Jamesville Beach Park for over 3,700 vehicles making this location one of the best 70.3 venues in the international series.
Finish Venue: Following your half marathon run the Ironman 70.3 Syracuse will host it's 2010 finish and finish party from the grounds of the Syracuse Inner Harbor Amphitheater. Athlete's can relax along the shore of the Inner Harbor in downtown Syracuse at the 2010 finish line and finish party. Celebrate the inaugural Ironman 70.3 Syracuse with our sponsors and award winners at our awards presentation held at the Syracuse Inner Harbor Amphitheater.
Swim Course: Athletes will be directed to the beach front from the pre-staging area just off the beach by the public address announcer. Athletes will swim on a clockwise swim course that will follow the western shore of Jamesville Reservoir first before turning right at the first turn marker. Athletes will head east in the water to the second turn marker where they will once again turn right at the large yellow buoy and head back towards the shoreline. Before athletes reach the shore and swim exit, swimmers will be required to turn right at the last large yellow turn buoy before reaching swim exit. This 1.2 mile swim will be monitored by life guards, kayakers and certified water safety personnel.
Practice Swim: Ironman 70.3 Syracuse will offer a organized swim practice with life guard support for athletes in the Jamesville Reservoir on Saturday, September 18, 2010 from 3:00pm to 4:30pm.
