Description:

The last chance to qualify for the Foster Grant Ironman World Championship 70.3 in Clearwater!

Ironman 70.3 Series offers up crystal-clear water, a bike route along the route of the ancient Mayans, and a run that has been billed the "most beautiful half-marathon" in the World. We have a lot to look forward to in Cancun next year!

A swim in the crystal clear, calm, turquoise waters of the Mexican Caribbean. The swim consists of two laps around a rectangular course to complete 1.2 mi (1.9 km). There are buoy markings every 100 meters, and big banana-like buoys at the turning points. No wetsuits will be required as the water temperature sits at 26°C (79°F). The maximum water depth is 30 feet, and the visibility is so good, 100%, that you'll feel as if you were snorkeling!

The two-lap bike course follows along the route of the ancient Mayans, along the new four-lane highway between Cancun and Merida. The road conditions are perfect, so you can just sit in an aero position and concentrate on your breathing and pedaling!

The run course can simply be called "the most beautiful half marathon in the world." Run over Kukulcan Boulevard, the strip of land between the Caribbean Sea and the beautiful Nichupte Lagoon, the course offers dazzling views over the paths of the spectacular golf course. Then you go back in history while running next to the thousand year old Mayan ruins and pyramids know as "El Rey" (The King).

Cobra Ironman 70.3 Philippines

Description:

Mabuhay! Welcome to the Cobra Energy Drink Ironman 70.3 Philippines website. We are very excited to be able to host the inaugural event.

In conceiving this event we wanted to achieve three goals. Firstly, we want to create a memorable experience for the triathletes. While the Philippines has not been a major destination for triathlon, we do offer a beautiful country with some of the most hospitable people in the world. We would like to develop this event and create the concept of “sports tourism”. So aside from your race, we hope to make this event interesting in many other regards. We will be offering a post-race camp by Life Sport (Official Coaches of Ironman) personally handled by Lance Watson and hopefully have a couple of professional triathletes to assist. We also want to encourage triathletes and their families to see other parts of this beautiful country. Hence, we will be developing a few tour packages for your consideration to make the trip even more memorable.

Secondly, we want to develop the sport of triathlon in the Philippines. While the sport is still relatively small, there has been significant growth in the past couple of years. As more and more people seek a healthier lifestyle, triathlon is well positioned to attract many new participants. One way of encouraging this is by offering relays. I am pleased WTC has agreed to this and we will have several categories in the relay division. (Men, Women, Mixed, Corporate and Collegiate). We believe that by offering relays, we will end up getting full fledged triathletes from this group as these participants will discover the joy and challenge of completing all three disciplines.

Thirdly, we want to put up a first rate event. We will be having a small professional field participate which is always exciting for the us age groupers. Our event is well timed for the pros (and age groupers) who are competing in Kona since Cobra Energy Drink Ironman 70.3 Philippines is just seven weeks away from the Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii or the Ironman 70.3 World Championships in Clearwater, Florida and this could be the last big race before tapering towards the key event. We are working closely with our partners and sponsors to ensure you have a comfortable and unique experience that will encourage you to return year after year and hopefully get you to have your triathlete friends come as well.

Thank you for your interest and we look forward to seeing you in August.

Best regards,

Wilfred Steven Uytengsu

Eagleman Ironman 70.3

City:
Cambridge
State:
Maryland
Country:
Country: us
Events:

Description:

The EagleMan Half Ironman Triathlon had its roots as The Oxford Triathlon in 1980 under the directorship of Oxford, Maryland native Fletcher Hanks.

In 1990, he moved the race to nearby Cambridge across the Choptank River into Dorchester County and renamed it "The Endurance". After Hanks retired in 1992, the event was again renamed in honor of the majestic bald eagle, the symbol of freedom and opportunity and an inhabitant of Dorchester County and the vast Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge, through which much of the bike course goes.

This event is as mentally and physically demanding as any Ironman 70.3 race. The water conditions can be very choppy and and rough and the bike and run courses, while flat, can and often do get very windy and hot. There is little shade to be found. The shear challenge of these conditions cannot be underestimated. This race will select only the mentally and physically toughest to travel the "Road to Kona".

A look at the past winners of the race provides a who's who of Ironman history. Dave Horning, Lynn Brooks, Scott Molina, Paul Huddle, Troy Jacobson, Colleen Cannon, Lori Bowden, Natascha Badmann, Tim DeBoom, Chris Legh and Luke Bell are just a few of the sports biggest names who have competed over the years.

Race director Rob Vigorito's unsurpassed and boundless energy has helped make the Eagleman one of the outstanding races on the Ironman 70.3 circuit. While the prize money entices much of the incredible field that appears every year, it's Vigo, his race crew and the welcoming community that ensures the incredible loyalty of both the pros and age group athletes who make it a regular date on their race calendar
